Ronald McDonald Show ….

Come join us this upcoming Wednesday, 27th July, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, for a great deal of fun and laughter, as we present Ronald McDonald and his traveling show. Children of all ages are welcome , along with their guardians and this event will be taking place at the Dundee Community Center , 603 Lake Marie Boulevard , Dundee, FL 33838. This will be the last event of the Summer as part of our Summer Reading Program, a joint initiative by the Dundee Public Library and Friends of The Library Dundee Inc.

Summer Reading Program Event with special guest , Park Ranger Andi Henry

Please join us this upcoming Wednesday, 20th July, 2016 at the Dundee Community Center as the Dundee Public Library and Friends of The Library Dundee Inc present another Summer Reading Program event. As a special guest we will have Park Ranger Andi Henry , along with an array of equipment Andi uses in her day-to-day work activities as a Ranger with the state of Florida.

Summer Reading Program ; Petting Zoo …

 

Another event organized by the Dundee Public Library in conjunction with the Friends of The Library Dundee Inc took place on Wednesday 22^nd June at the Dundee Community Center Dundee , Florida . On hand were Library Director Julie Feagle , who was ably assisted by volunteers Anjali Harper , Mary-Ann Podbielski and Alan Parkins. With almost one hundred children in attendance along with their parents , guardians , caregiver or in a number of cases many of the children were part of kindergarten groupings within the local community.

Pretty Pony Parties, a family owned business was on hand to entertain the children with an array of animals as part of a Petting Zoo. It was a setting in which the children would be able to see first hand how delightful nature just happens to be as they were given the chance be around horses , a pony, a pig , goat and a rabbit . Being entertained in this instance created a great deal of enjoyment for not only the children in attendance , but also for the adults who accompanied their family members or those in their custody. Smiles and laughs all around were seen on the youngest faces as well as the parents.

The kids were also provided with the chance to have some with arts and craft. Resident storyteller Mary-Ann oversaw this activity and the children having grown fond of her , knowing her by name , have always been keen to interact one of the library’s most beloved volunteers.

Please note, though our deadline has passed for placing an order for the Krispy Kreme Doughnut as part of our fundraiser. If you still wish to make a purchase , you are still able to do so , by calling the Dundee Public Library. Staff of the library will continue to take orders up until Tuesday, 26th April and no later than 12:00 pm . This facilitates our being able to place our final order with Krispy Kreme at a given time. All purchases made must be paid for on the 26th April . Cash or a check, are the only forms of payment that will be accepted.

Easter Egg Hunt ….

Easter Egg Hunt …

In the aftermath of the Easter celebrations, the Dundee Public Library were the recipients and benefactor of one thousand Easters Eggs,courtesy of the Town of Dundee . The Library staff headed by Julie Feagle  , Superintendent for the facility, saw fit to organize an in-house Easter Egg Hunt for the children within the community, held at the library. Each child was allowed to search the library for the Easter Eggs, which were hidden throughout the facility. With a limit of fifteen eggs per child, this hunt provided a great deal of fun for the children, their guardians as well as the library staff on hand.

A dwindling supply of eggs are still available and the staff will now offer these to any child who attends the library in the coming days until the finals ones are given away. So with the end of this particular holiday event, the Dundee Public Library will continue with their array of programs being offered this calendar year.

The Easter Bunny Comes to The Town of Dundee …

The Easter Bunny Comes To The Dundee Public Library

Well, the Dundee Public Library had a special guest on Wednesday morning, as the Easter Bunny made a special appearance during the children’s story-time , which was read by Mary-Ann Podbielski. The children were very attentive and enthusiastic as stories the story-time took place. Attendees came from two local day-care centers located in the town of Dundee , along with several other children who came along with a parent or caregiver.

In the lead up to Easter and Spring Break , the Dundee Public Library will undertake to have several more story-time sessions to be held at the library, along with arts and crafts and other activities, which will be presided over by Mary-Ann. Meet Sam McLeod and Gary Piper, two dedicated members of the Polk County Library Cooperative …

The Polk County Library Cooperative  has to work like a well-oiled machine on a daily basis and it is particularly true when it comes to the delivery of the books within the   cooperative system each day. At the heart of this all are two drivers, unsung heroes, but very much appreciated, Sam McLeod and Gary Piper, who deliver the books needed on loan within the system , spread among the county’s sixteen library venues , across Polk County.

Many might see this all as a logistical nightmare for Gary and Sam, but these two dedicated and meticulous employees make this all work , with clockwork precision , which is appreciated by the staff of the libraries within the Polk County Library Cooperative (PCLC)& . Thursday morning the two made their usual delivery to the Dundee Public Library  where Library Superintendent  Julie Feagle and   Kaliyah Monroe were on hand to meet the pair , as they made their customary delivery and pickup, for onward transfer within cooperative’s distribution system.

Our 2016 Summer Reading Program begins in earnest …..

The Dundee Public Library in conjunction with Friends of The Library Dundee Inc will be hosting the first of their scheduled events for the Summer and as part of their Summer Reading Program. In what will be the first of the events taking place , Water Ventures , Florida’s Learning Lab will be at the Dundee Community Center , 605 Lake Marie Drive , Dundee , Fl on Wednesday 15th June, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am .

This is a preregistered event and as the library wishes to have an estimated figure for the number of children in attendance and it is imperative we have your child registered for the exhibit . Simply call the Dundee Public Library at the number listed below or visit our location , giving a member of staff member the relevant information required (name of child , number attending , if more than one) .

It should be noted , it would be preferable to have your child registered for the Water Ventures’ exhibit as soon as possible in order to avoid any last minute rush and to account for availability.

Water Ventures is an interactive educational learning lab , which will provide the children with an insight about the different types of wildlife to be found within the state’s rich waterways, with a focus also on conservation and recycling. The exhibit itself a mobile unit housing a rich resource of books , photographs and other exhibits on-board.

Friends of The Library Dundee Inc (FOL) Annual Book Sale

The Friends of The Library Dundee Inc , will be holding their Annual Book Sale on Saturday, 12th March,2016 at the Dundee Community Center located at 605 Lake Marie Drive , Dundee, FL 33838. This event will begin at 9:00 am and end at 1.:00 pm . All proceeds raised will go towards our fundraising events throughout the year and aid with our planned activities within the community held in conjunction with the Dundee Public Library.

Also on sale will be baked goods and refreshments for the attendees. Each year we anticipate a tremendous turnout for this particular event and each occasion the residents within the Town of Dundee have never failed to disappoint with their kind generosity , donations and outpouring of goodwill. We hope to once again stage another successful Book Sale while also seeking to meet our appointed goal of raising a substantial sum from the event.

The library’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday. Weekdays the facility is opened from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm in the evening . On Saturday it is open from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm

Throughout this year (2015), the Library has seen tremendous growth , the raising of our profile within the community, of which a great deal of this , has come from the ceaseless efforts of Friends of The Library Dundee (FOL) , its outreach programs within the community, the story-time sessions and other activities presided over by Mary-Ann Podbielski, who has often been assisted in these endeavors by either Library Superintendent Julie Feagle, or FOL President Rukhsana Harper.

Many of our events conducted throughout this year, were sponsored , with the aid coming from some noted companies based within our locale. These companies included Ez Storage , Maxijet, Publix Charities and Wells Fargo Bank. Each of the aforementioned companies have been of great assistance to Friend of The Library in our achieving many of our goals set throughout much of this year.

FOL would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors , many of the private donors and those who have purchased many of items sold through our various fundraisers organized during 2015 ! The board members of Friends of The Library Dundee our volunteers and the staff the Dundee Public Library would like to thank all of the community for their wonderful outpouring of generosity and continued support this year and hope this will be ongoing, as we enter 2016 !
