Held at the Library in conjunction with Friends of The Library Dundee Florida Inc , the turnout for the event was tremendous , with the children and their parents in attendance having a wonderful time. With the limited capacity seating, the Library staged a great movie night and with the free refreshments (popcorn, candy sodas and water) on hand , there was no denying the night would be a tremendous success.

Our next free Movie Night Presentation is scheduled for the Friday 18th August at 6:30 pm here at the Dundee Public Library and the movie being shown will be ‘Smurfs The Lost Village’ . As we can only accommodate a maximum of forty-nine occupants (people) for each showing , we would advise parents and guardians to simply register child or children in advance if they wish to attend.

Pretty Pony Parties, a family owned business was on hand to entertain the children with an array of animals as part of a Petting Zoo. It was a setting in which the children would be able to see first hand how delightful nature just happens to be as they were given the chance be around horses , a pony, a pig , goat and a rabbit . Being entertained in this instance created a great deal of enjoyment for not only the children in attendance , but also for the adults who accompanied their family members or those in their custody. Smiles and laughs all around were seen on the youngest faces as well as the parents.

The kids were also provided with the chance to have some with arts and craft. Resident storyteller Mary-Ann oversaw this activity and the children having grown fond of her , knowing her by name , have always been keen to interact one of the library’s most beloved volunteers.

In the community, that is where you will always find us ..

As you may well be aware Friends of The Library and the Dundee Library remains active within the community with our year-long Outreach Programs and activities for the children . We believe it plays a fundamental part in the growing and learning process of the kids. Many of our planned activities will take place at the Library or at the Dundee Community Center, located, here in town. Mary-Ann Podbielski, a volunteer with the Dundee Library coordinates , and conducts these events, with the most popular, being our Kids’ Story-time , which takes place , weekly, on Wednesday, from 9.00 AM until 10.00 AM.

Mary-Ann is usually be assisted by either Library Superintendent Julie Feagle or Rukhsana Harper when these events take place. If the children are unable to attend, as has often been the case, we will make every effort to visit them , as we often do with a number of activities, which takes in many of the children at the local migrant school, located in the town of Dundee. Nothing gives these children greater pleasure than to be part of an activity, where their young minds are being infused with knowledge, while at the same time, having a great deal of fun.

Mary-Ann Podbielski conducts the Kids’ Story-time , here at the Dundee Library. This takes place twice, weekly on Thursdays and Fridays from 9.00 AM until 10.00 AM , where all children five and under are welcome . This is done as a joint effort between the Dundee Public Library and Friends of the Library .

Throughout the calendar year Friends of the Library will be seeking to engage the community at large and the children with planned events . For further information concerning this , simply call in at the Dundee Library for the details or simply visit the Facebook pages of the Dundee Library or Friends of the Library (Dundee) for details concerning these activities and other planned as part of our scheduling .

A Taste Of Dundee

Taste Of Dundee Event at the Dundee Community Center

Recently, Friends Of Friends of The Library President Rukhsana Harper attended an event hosted by the Dundee Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Town of Dundee. This gathering was staged as a networking event to publicize the businesses within the town where local business owners, town and civic dignitaries could meet for an exchange of ideas and a way of gaining a more high profiled visibility for their businesses within the locale.

Town Manager Ryan Taylor and Assistant Town Manager Deena Ware were in attendance, with the Town Manager on hand to emcee the event. Mayor Sam Pennant was also in attendance, along with all of the Town’s Commissioners, Steve Glenn, Bert Goddard, Willie Quarles and Jeanne Irwin.

On a night, when the theme was not only about networking, but a chance for town residents and business owners to convene and get to know each other, this event proved to be a great success, with Mayor Pennant stating the town’s most recent Council Meeting of his wish to see this event staged not just intermittently, but perhaps on a twice yearly basis, if not more frequently, for the benefit of the town and Chamber of Commerce.

Friends of the Library Dundee, as a fully paid up member of the Dundee Chamber of Commerce, was able to play its part in this gathering, wherein, FOL President Harper, was able make her presence known to many of the guests, business owners in attendance at this event and making them aware of our activities within the community, in conjunction with the Dundee Public Library.

To our benefit, FOL was able to make new list of new contacts and the likelihood of building a network of new group of influential donors for future programs, we will be coordinating and conducting within the community.
