We say Goodbye to the Books Bridge Bus Bookmobile

Wednesday 5th August, 2015 was the last day of visitation by the Books Bridge Bus Bookmobile a resource of Polk County . Books Bridge was a regular visitor to the Dundee Public Library throughout the Summer and also for many of our regularly scheduled planned events held at the Dundee Community Center as part of our Summer Reading Program.

The staff and volunteers of the library would like to take this opportunity to thank Books Bridge Bookmobile for being present throughout this period and for providing a valued service within the community for the children ! We look forward to working with them again, next Summer and long into the future.

In the community, that is where you will always find us ..

As you may well be aware Friends of The Library and the Dundee Library remains active within the community with our year-long Outreach Programs and activities for the children . We believe it plays a fundamental part in the growing and learning process of the kids. Many of our planned activities will take place at the Library or at the Dundee Community Center, located, here in town. Mary-Ann Podbielski, a volunteer with the Dundee Library coordinates , and conducts these events, with the most popular, being our Kids’ Story-time , which takes place , weekly, on Wednesday, from 9.00 AM until 10.00 AM.

Mary-Ann is usually be assisted by either Library Superintendent Julie Feagle or Rukhsana Harper when these events take place. If the children are unable to attend, as has often been the case, we will make every effort to visit them , as we often do with a number of activities, which takes in many of the children at the local migrant school, located in the town of Dundee. Nothing gives these children greater pleasure than to be part of an activity, where their young minds are being infused with knowledge, while at the same time,having a great deal of fun.

Mary-Ann Podbielski conducts the Kids’ Story-time , here at the Dundee Library. This takes place twice, weekly on Thursdays and Fridays from 9.00 AM until 10.00 AM , where all children five and under are welcome . This is done as a joint effort between the Dundee Public Library and Friends of the Library .

Throughout the calendar year Friends of the Library will be seeking to engage the community at large and the children with planned events . Our grand reopening and conversion to an E-Library

The Dundee Library Florida, part of the Polk County Library Cooperative will be having a dedicated reopening on Tuesday , 27th January, 2015 at 6.00 PM at the Dundee Library , 202 East Main Street, Dundee , FL 33838 at the town’s administrative complex. Patrons and residents are all welcomed at this community event where light refreshments will be served.

Library Superintendent Julie Feagle, her staff , Library volunteers as well as members from Friends of the Library Dundee, will be on hand to welcome all of the guests to this reopening, alongside many of the town’s dignitaries and council members. We hope to see not just many of the town’s residents , but also patrons and new residents at this event , giving them a chance to see one of the resources available to the community here in the town of Dundee.

This event is being held to formalize the change from a conventional lending Library to a newly formatted E-Library, while still offering the same services and resources as before. We hope that this reorganization will not only be beneficial to our residents and patrons but also in the long-term for the staff , as we look forward to providing the dedicated service which has always been on hand and which our staff has been known for.

So please come and join us on Tuesday evening for this grand reopening , as we look forward to better serving the community, regular patrons and new guests. The Dundee Public Library is here to serve and provide patrons with a unique and friendly service, with a very dedicated, professional and welcoming approach.
